But David Gentile is not just any financial fraudster, however: His business history is long intermingled with former Russian oligarch Michael Cherney, wanted by Interpol for alleged ties to Russian organized crime, records reviewed by Disaster Girl reveal.

Michael Cherney has long worked with another allegedly Russian mafia-linked figure—Arik Kislin—whose uncle Sam Kislin is one of Rudy Giuliani’s oldest friends and supporters, and who once reportedly helped Trump stave off bankruptcy.

Although it’s unknown exactly who advocated for Gentile’s release, his business ties bring him within two degrees of some of Trump’s oldest backers in the Ukrainian and Russian American business world, and the highest levels of the Israeli government.

Cherney has also long been in business with New York real estate developer Arik Kislin, the nephew of Sam Kislin. Arik Kislin, known for owning trendy Hotel Gansevoort in Manhattan, was also president of Blonde Management Company, where Cherney was his partner, according to court documents obtained by The New York Post in 2012, which showed Kislin was one of three individuals “‘authorized to give [financial] instructions’ to a company in Liechtenstein now identified as a front for the Ismailovskaya organized-crime group” according to The Post’s law-enforcement sourcesand court documents.

The FBI investigated Sam Kislin in the 90s and his ties to organized crime, and Interpol claimed in 1996 that Kislin’s firm was used by Cherney for fraud and embezzlement, according to a 1999 investigation by The Center for Public Integrity. Arik Kislin often shared addresses with Cherney, the report found.

When Arik Kislin sought a licensing bid at a Massachusetts casino in 2013, a state gaming commission investigative report stated, “We received information from the FBI that Arik Kislin is in fact known to them and has been linked to various members of Eurasian Organized Crime (EOC).”

Arik Kislin donated a small amount to Giuliani’s campaign, but his uncle Sam Kislin was one of Giuliani’s biggest campaign supporters, donating thousands to his mayoral campaigns and hosting fundraisers. Giuliani appointed Sam Kislin to the city’s Economic Development Corp. Sam Kislin would later be swept up in the 2019 impeachment inquiry against Trump, with three House committees asking Kislin for his communications with Trump, Giuliani and Ukrainian officials as part of an investigation into Trump’s push for a Ukrainian investigation into the Bidens.

Sam Kislin told Disaster Girl in a phone interview that he has not spoken to Michael Cherney in 20 years but that his nephew Arik remains close to him. “Cherney is a crook, and all Rina’s money is her father’s money,” he said. Sam Kislin said he did not know David Gentile or why his sentence was commuted. Kislin mentioned that Trump had invited him to work for his current administration but he declined due to his age.
Rina Chernaya, who owns a luxury bridal salon in Miami, and is frequently seen in social media photographs with friends who visit Mar-a-Lago often, did not reply to calls or emails. Diana Cherney could not be immediately reached. Gentile’s family accounting firm did not return a message.

Cherney’s daughters also maintain a holding company in Cyprus. In 2010, Israeli TV Channel Two covered one of Cherney’s daughter’s weddings, described as the most expensive in Israel at the time, costing $5 million, and attended by Israeli government ministers and Knesset members. Cherney’s ex-wife is reportedly close friends with Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a relationship Kislin confirmed.
