An “intense” investigation by multiple agencies led to the thwarting of a terrorist attack plot targeting multiple locations in Southern California, federal officials announced.

The Department of Justice and the FBI’s investigation “prevented what would have been a massive and horrific plot in the Central District of California,” United States Attorney General Pam Bondi stated on Monday morning. She referred to the Central District of California as Orange County and Los Angeles (in reality, the district includes Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura counties.)

Bondi identified the group behind the alleged terror plot as the Turtle Island Liberation Front and described them as “far-left, pro-Palestine, anti-government and anti-capitalist.”

The “series of bombings” that the group was planning were “multiple targets in California” and they were set to occur on New Year’s Eve, Bondi said. The group was also allegedly going to target U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and vehicles.
