With US presidential elections looming ever closer, a new poll from Þjóðarpúls Gallup asked Icelanders who they would vote for if they had voting rights in the US. RÚV reports on the results.

Vast majority pick Harris
The overwhelming majority of respondents–91%–said they would vote for US Vice President Kamala Harris. Only 9% said they would vote for former US president Donald Trump.

When broken down by demographics, a more detailed picture emerges.

Older, educated people more likely to pick Harris
Men were more likely than women to say they would vote for Trump, at 15% to 4% respectively.

Broken down by age, older people were more likely to pick Harris than younger people. Those aged 50 to 59 were most likely to pick Harris, at 97%, followed by those aged 60 and older, at 93%. Trump had the highest level of support amongst those aged 40 to 49, at 15%, followed by those aged 18 to 39, at 12%. There was also a rise in support for Harris with those with higher education.
