How much is the class?

It's a private group out of Texas that is funded by the DOJ and Homeland. I think they were all former military with either Police or Paramedic level backgrounds.
I know one of the instructors was a former 18D, we had a few really good side bar conversations.
I'd say in a 40 hour class, only about 8 in total were classroom based. the rest of the time was dedicated to scenarios.

That's ALICE. Not a bad program.

anon user #3Five days seems a bit ridiculous. Sounds more like a taxpayer funded vacation for first responders to be honest.

It's actually two courses in one.
The first is two day: Active Assault Integrated Response.
The next day is where we discuss the educator piece, and the last two days, we build and run the scenarios based on our teaching group.
It's very hands on throughout.
My biggest issue was I actually took the Active Assault piece a few weeks ago. The literature did not say it was built in to the instructor course.
Plus with all the running around, I lost 3 ponds.

I've taught the class a few times, a few years back.
ALERRT has the Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events, which I am able to teach as well. They use the Avoid, Deny, Defend, which is basically the same as ALICE.

Ok, fair enough. That seems way more involved than I was thinking it was.

Personally, it was much harder than my SWAT course, mainly because it adds in the stressor of patient management and egress.
