Didn't click but really think about it. If it were an engineered biological weapon it likely would have had a far higher mortality rate.

Not if they were just doing regular science to learn more about gain-of-function research. Also, the mortality rate was sky high at the beginning. It is far more likely that a dangerous bug got out rather than a "world ender"

I suppose it is possible but for a lab leak of a novel virus I would more suspect it was being developed as a weapon. And that is my point. Covid really wasn't a very good weapon as it mainly killed the elderly and those already sick. So it would not have worked well on healthy soldiers or the vast majority of those of working age. An engineered biological weapon wold likely be developed to hit this subset of the population hard. It would be like developing a gun to shoot out small chunks of ice. Yes, you can do it, but why not use traditional bullets instead if you are trying to kill or injure?

Yeah, it wasn't a very good biological weapon... that does not mean it didn't come from a lab.

the claim is function was added to an existing virus to see what it would be like. Nobody is claiming a bioweapon.
