Micron has made the difficult decision to wind down the Crucial consumer business. Micron will ship Crucial consumer products through February 2026, with warranty and support continuing. Micron Crucial consumer products may continue to be available for purchase from distributors and resellers for some time.

I guess producing overpriced drives didn’t work out.
So sad

Lol. Apparently they announced this in December.
Making so much money on the ai bubble that consumer grade shyt, even at ridiculously hyper-inflated pricing, isn't worth it. Even though as a low margin business for 30 years it totally was.

It makes sense, if there's a different mining opportunity (platinum, uranium, etc), so they shutdown their gold mines, and move their gold mining equipment to the new, more profitable mines.

When the AI bubble pops, they'll be back.

SamplesBoiI bought a lot of their product. Recently, however, I have bought Corsair because that is what Microcenter has been selling. My last two DIMM kits (64GB each) that were $249 back in October are now $1099. Incredible. I feel like a genius. I bought two of these kits and 2 4TB SSDs at the exact right time. Also 8 28TB Seagate drives to replace older WD 14TB drives for my media library. All last year. My timing was perfect but I admit it was just dumb luck.

I don't know what to say. I wouldn't buy at these prices. Memory is cyclical and it will return to reasonable prices soon enough.

My main computer is almost four years old.
My wife’s main computer is almost seven years old.
My shop computer is 12 years old.
And I need a computer in the craft room now that the 3D printer is in there.

Crucial is the consumer subsidiary of Micron.
Micron is still around, they've just decided to sell everything to AI because that's where the money is currently at.

Slimy Sam Altman made purchase agreements for a LARGE amount of DRAM.
What happens when Slimy Sam can't pay? Who knows.
This is a perfect opportunity for CXMT.

I'd do some searching, including on X & Gamers Nexus with Tech Jesus, about Corsair DIMMs.
