Well the idea is that if a person buys all at once, they pay the sales tax then. The ongoing tax for something that's bought and paid for is absurd.  have a city tax that can be negotiated and is the same for all for services and infrastructure. Then have tiers of city taxes for the type of entity and it's business.

Same here, but I actually see value from my taxes here, as opposed to California where I saw illegals and drugged out BUMS, paid by our taxes.

This would pretty much end the possibility of buying a home for renters, since their property taxes would likely be far higher than they are now.  It would make all the old farts where I live now happier.

Why should I have to pay taxes to schools?  My children are grown and don't talk to me anymore!

No, you don't actually own your home until about halfway through a mortgage term; that's when you start to pay on the principal, which would then go down and lower taxes several years into the mortgage, making zero difference for landlords.

And if a landlord bought a home outright, they pay the sales tax or a home sales tax. Which would be the equivalent of several years’ worth of property tax, usually. A fair chance for a municipality to invest that lump sum.
