That isn't how the Internet works.

Yes, **Spanky** is correct.

In the forum thread you are viewing, Spanky replies to the idea that Starlink will eventually "become" the internet by stating: *"That isn't how the Internet works."*

### Why Spanky is Correct

* **The Internet is a Network of Networks:** The internet is not a single entity, company, or physical infrastructure owned by one provider. Instead, it is a global system of interconnected computer networks (including fiber-optic cables, localized internet service providers, data centers, and exchange points) that communicate using standardized protocols (like TCP/IP).
* **Starlink's Role:** Starlink is an **Internet Service Provider (ISP)**. It provides a means of connection (via satellite) to the broader internet, much like a traditional cable company, fiber provider, or mobile carrier.
* **Scale vs. Architecture:** While Starlink continues to grow, launch more satellites, and capture a larger share of the global broadband market, it remains an access layer—a transport mechanism—rather than the architecture of the internet itself.

I go 150Mb/s a little while ago while cruising at 600 mph using his system, for free (or at least included).  It's clearly not that shytty.

It's kind of the opposite - it's currently needed where there are no direct terrestrial connections - or no wireless proximity relays connected to a landline available. That's a shrinking market bro.

Where there are more internet routers in space than there are on terra firma... then where will the internet be?

Elon Musk worked here illegally in 1995.  Time to confiscate his money and send him back to Africa.

Yes, let's put thousands of people out of work because you're having a typical childish liberal temper tantrum.

Him leaving would not put them out of work.

If they confiscated his assets, it would.

How much of Musk's fortune could easily be liquified?

Eventually a Kessler event will doom Starlink.  Just in the last few months there have been three satellite breakups in space that created three more debris clouds, one of which was a Starlink.  That shyt’s not all mapped and at 17,000 mph even a small fragment will destroy whatever it hits and potentially cause an uncontrolled chain reaction wiping out more and more satellites in a crowded orbit.

But, why would they confiscate his assets?

He could easily "work from home" in Africa and still run the company remotely.

That would pretty much fuxor a whole lot of satellites.

How is he going to remotely operate items that have been confiscated by the government?

They won't confiscate because we need SpaceX intact.

I didn't make the confiscation claim.

In any case, even if it was confiscated, and he was kicked out, and he was barred from running the company, that still wouldn't mean the end of the company and its employees.

Who would run it, then?
