Peggy Noonan: _The Tea Party saved the GOP from the shame of the Bush era.

I think you'll agree that she makes some very good points.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000142 … 27356.html

Two central facts give shape to the historic 2010 election. The first is not understood by Republicans, and the second not admitted by Democrats.

The first: the tea party is not a "threat" to the Republican Party, the tea party saved the Republican Party. In a broad sense, the tea party rescued it from being the fat, unhappy, querulous creature it had become, a party that didn't remember anymore why it existed, or what its historical purpose was. The tea party, with its energy and earnestness, restored the GOP to itself.

The tea party did something the Republican establishment was incapable of doing: It got the party out from under George W. Bush. The tea party rejected his administration's spending, overreach and immigration proposals, among other items, and has become only too willing to say so. In doing this, the tea party allowed the Republican establishment itself to get out from under Mr. Bush: "We had to, boss, it was a political necessity!" They released the GOP establishment from its shame cringe.

The second fact of 2010 is understood by Republicans but not admitted by Democrats. It is that this is a fully nationalized election, and at its center it is about one thing: Barack Obama.

It is not, broadly, about the strengths or weaknesses of various local candidates, about constituent services or seniority, although these elements will be at play in some outcomes.  This election is about one man, Barack Obama, who fairly or not represents the following: the status quo, Washington, leftism, Nancy Pelosi, Fannie and Freddie, and deficits in trillions, not billions.

Everyone who votes is going to be pretty much voting yay or nay on all of that. And nothing can change that story line now.

Yes, that the Tea Party is full of batshyt insane retards (like you). And that stupid people are very easily manipulated by fear mongering. Also, that sensationalist shyt gets more coverage and attention than substantive discourse.

What are your thoughts on her assertion that the mid-term elections have become nationalized and will be a verdict on one thing - Ol' Purple Lips and his policies?

Midterms have ALWAYS been that way. Some of us remember 1994, when the SAME EXACT THING HAPPENED. And the Republicans fuqed up HUGE after that election and Clinton rode on to an easy win in 1996. Republicans were HATED by 1996 for being assholes. If Clinton hadn't let that chick suck his dong (or at least not let it get out and be widely known), Gore would have easily won in 2000.

I GUARANTEE YOU the same exact thing is happening now. The difference? Obama's poll numbers are actually HIGHER than Clinton's were. The GOP is off the rails insane and will polarize people even more.

I see.  So you don't think that the Republican tsunami in 1994 had a moderating influence on Bubba's Left-leaning tendencies?  For instance, do you really think welfare reform - as proposed by the Republicans - would have been embraced by Bubba if not for the terrible beating he suffered in the mid-terms?

Remember, Bubba actually had some executive experience as the governor of Arkansas.  He didn't come into the Presidency with 'community organizer' as the most prominent work experience on his resume.  Do you really think that Ol' Purple Lips - completely devoid of the practical experience needed for the Presidency - will be capable of moderating his uber-Liberal/Socialist leanings to make him viable for re-election?

Have you even been watching the train wreck that is the Obama Administration?

I agree with this.

Give the Tea Party a chance. Leave the hatred to the other side.

I remember when Ronald Reagan selected George H. W. Bush to be his running made it 1980 and hated the Bush crime family then.  Big mistake on Reagan's part.

But I voted for the Bush crime family four times because the alternative was just so terrible.  Kerry, Edwards and Gore? As if I had a choice.

Good riddance to the Bush family of thugs.

Right.  And it's already sucking Tea Party dick.

Better not pat your foot in the stall, Mitch and Lindsey.
