It’s for a pissy construction hardware part I can’t find elsewhere.
I don’t want to give cc info over phone. Just got a replacement card after being hacked.
Offered to mail a check
, no response.
Is there a difference between a real credit card & prepaid one?

HeekeeThats weird, with a real credit card you could do a chargeback and screw the seller after receiving the item, im not sure thats possible with a prepaid cc, also how would they know what type it is? I dont understand how they could have a problem with it

He said we aren’t set up for gift cards
Maybe he misunderstands what a prepaid Mastercard is? Not giving my real cc

Yea if they can accept mastercard they should be able to accept a prepaid mastercard, should be no difference on their end
Also a lot of credit card companies give the ability of generating temporary credit card numbers to use online, that may be an option

real credit cards usually have some verification - e.g. knowing the zipcode. Same prompt you get at a gas station if you're out of state traveling.
The other thing you can do - is credit servicers like Capital One have a feature where you create a virtual credit card - you can then lock it once the transaction is complete.

Lots of criminals & illegal aliens use prepaid debit cards.

Fuq. It’s a very stupid part & not very expensive.
Now I’m going to have to find it through a different 3rd party online, who buys it from the vendor anyway.

Why should they care if this is a $30 part + shipping & it gets paid in full
........................................................................
I can send a money order

Is the vendor located in the US?
Some prepaid debit cards reject foreign transactions.

Drive/fly to where the 'vendor' is located. Kill them. Take the part.

They are in the US & I am in the US. Too far to drive.
I really want this part
It’s possible the part does not exist and that’s why it was so difficult to find

what about other options? PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, Cash.App??
This problem of being able to pay people not near you in real-time was solved a long time ago.
BTW last time I had movers come they preferred Cash.app for payment

In the old days UPS COD for cash.
But then drug dealers shipped empty boxes to launder money.

The guy keeps saying via email they have the part in stock, and sent me a photo of it. But says I have to call him to order, nothing online.
In the old days I guess I gave out my credit card over the phone complete with security code & address

ohhh - he has a picture of it! (
). Let me know the part you're trying to buy and I'll send a picture of it in my shop too - and then call me with your cc info

SockpuppetHe has a contractual obligation to accept all cards issued by the same brand. If he accepts one then he must accept them all. He could be allowed to apply extra scrutiny to a prepaid card but only to the limits allowed by the merchant agreement. For example, on a CC maybe he lets a bad AVS pass and on a prepaid card he doesn’t. But he can’t just outright deny a one type of bugged card if he accepts other cards with the same bug.
You could, in theory, have his merchant account yanked if you put in the effort.
