FBI says it thwarted possible threat to UFC event in Washington

https://www.yahoo.com/news/articles/fbi … 42000.html

The FBI said on Tuesday it had ‌thwarted a potential threat ahead ‌of the Ultimate Fighting Championship mixed martial arts event in Washington last weekend and has multiple people in custody.

Fox News Digital cited unidentified sources as ‌saying the alleged plot involved using explosive-laden drones to hit buildings near the event.

"On June 10, FBI and our law enforcement partners became aware of a potential threat to the UFC ‌America 250 event in Washington, D.C. involving individuals outside of the National Capital Region," FBI Director Kash Patel said in a statement posted ‌on X.

Patel did not specify how many people were in custody after the multistate ‌operation on the alleged planned attacks.

Five people were in custody and 23 were identified as part of a ‌network of plotters, Fox News Digital reported.

ALL of them in prison for a LONG TIME.  An armed attack against the American people and government is serious.   This is no "misunderstanding" as they usually claim when caught.

One of the suspects involved was 19-year-old Tycen Proper, according to court records. His mother first alerted authorities when the family grew concerned about his behavior online, recent firearms purchases and plans to travel, according to a criminal complaint.

The investigative team tracked down a chat on the platform Signal and arrested five people. The suspects were in their teens to early 20s. The Signal chats involved discussions about drones and potential mass violence, including luring out the crowd at the UFC event.

Proper told investigators that a group planned to stage a demonstration outside the White House, fly small drones laden with explosives to detonate outside the arena to force the crowd to evacuate, and act as snipers to shoot people fleeing the event. Targets included wealthy people and politicians, Proper told investigators, according to a criminal complaint.

Searches of Proper's phone revealed chats in the app Signal that included planning similar to Proper's description. A primary chat had about 19 people in it, according to the complaint. Smaller chats also had four or five people in them. Some members were given roles, such as shooters at certain locations, investigators said.

After the attack, the group planned to flee from the White House and travel along the Potomac River to escape, according to the complaint.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn, a Republican of Tennessee, was one of the targets mentioned by name in a chat, according to the complaint.

"She's taken money from the Israel pro Israel lobby and supports them," Proper allegedly said in a message.

Other lawmakers' photos were shared in a chat, including Sen. Jim Justice, R-West Virginia; Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-West Virginia; Rep. Carol Miller, R-West Virginia; and Rep. Riley Moore, R-West Virginia.
