Nineteen months after he received a presidential pardon for his actions during a violent riot at the nation’s Capitol, Amherst resident Thomas F. Sibick is back in trouble with the law.
Sibick, 40, faces three felony weapons possession charges in connection with a domestic dispute that took place in a home in Williamsville in June. The Erie County District Attorney's Office said the charges were filed by Amherst police officers.
In July 2023, a federal judge sentenced Sibick to four years in prison, saying he ruined the life of the officer he victimized. Sibick tearfully apologized, saying he didn’t understand his own actions. A defense attorney blamed an improperly treated mental illness for Sibick’s crimes.
