President Donald Trump said Monday evening that he and his political action committee will pay for controversial television ads that praised him, and which reportedly were funded from up to $20 million set aside by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

Trump has faced bipartisan criticism for the spots, paid for by taxpayer dollars, which praise him. More than a dozen ads have been developed, including one entitled “God made Trump.” In them, Trump vows to take action against the “deep state” and other perceived enemies. The White House has defended the spots as “educational.”

Vice President JD Vance claimed Monday that Donald Trump’s taxpayer-funded propaganda videos are actually “not partisan.”
